Centum, KCB launch 8.9pc fixed-rate mortgage deal

NAIROBI, Kenya, May 4 – Centum Real Estate has partnered with KCB Bank to offer homebuyers fixed-rate mortgage loans at 8.9 percent for up to 25 years.

The deal will allow buyers of Centum housing units to access predictable monthly repayments, shielding them from interest rate fluctuations over the life of the loan.

Under the plan, a Sh2.5 million unit will attract monthly payments of about Sh20,809, while a Sh5 million home will cost roughly Sh41,618. A Sh10 million property will require about Sh83,236 per month on similar terms.

Centum Real Estate Managing Director Kenneth Mbae said the partnership aims to make home ownership more accessible. “We want to help more customers see ownership as something they can realistically work toward,” he said.

Caroline Wanjeri noted the initiative focuses on affordability by helping buyers plan using manageable monthly payments rather than headline property prices.

The partnership targets salaried and self-employed Kenyans, as lenders seek to unlock demand in the housing market through simpler and more predictable financing options.
