CFAO Mobility Kenya Drives Youth Motorsport Development Ahead of 2026 Safari Rally

CFAO Mobility Kenya is taking a bold step in nurturing the next generation of Kenyan rally drivers, unveiling initiatives that combine sponsorship, training, and hands-on experience ahead of the 2026 World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally.

As part of its commitment to motorsport, CFAO Mobility announced a KES 48,535,200 package supporting the event, reinforcing Toyota’s legacy of 12 WRC titles across different eras, including Group B and the current WRC Hybrid category.

“Our investment goes beyond sponsorship. We are focused on growing motorsport in Kenya, creating opportunities for young talent, and raising the country’s profile on the global rally stage,” said Arvinder Reel, Managing Director of CFAO Mobility Kenya, during the official cheque handover.

Rally School and Youth Programs

A cornerstone of CFAO Mobility’s initiative is the Safari Rally Training School Project. Two FIA-approved Toyota Starlet rally cars, developed with Kenyan engineers at a cost of KES 34.5 million, were donated to the school. The handover to the President of Kenya at State House signals strong national support for motorsport development.

In a first for Kenya, CFAO Mobility also unveiled a prototype Cross Car for junior drivers aged 12 to 17. Built to FIA standards at a cost of KES 3.7 million, this vehicle will be used to introduce grassroots rallying to young drivers, creating a structured pathway for Kenya’s rally stars of tomorrow.

“We’ve partnered with South Africa’s Botterill Motor Sport to develop a rally training curriculum. Local drivers and navigators will attend a training camp, and the curriculum will be handed over to the Safari Rally Secretariat to ensure the programme continues beyond this year,” Mr. Reel explained.

Fan Engagement and Industry Recognition

Fans got a unique experience with an exclusive meet-and-greet session featuring Toyota Gazoo Racing Team (TGR) drivers. The event also brought together global and local rally stars, including Elfyn Evans, 2025 Safari Rally winner; Samo Pajari; 24-year-old rising Kenyan talent; and legendary Juha Kankkunen, 1985 Safari Rally winner and Deputy Team Principal.

The Principal Secretary for Sports, Mr. Elijah Mwangi, praised CFAO Mobility Kenya for its impact on grassroots motorsport:

“By investing in rally cars, training, and Kenya’s first affordable FIA Cross Car, CFAO Mobility is helping develop talent and technical skills. This is a major step toward building a local motorsport ecosystem.”

Mr. Reel noted that the Toyota Hilux’s consistent role as the “double zero” and “triple zero” opening cars continues to showcase its durability, reliability, and performance, further cementing the brand’s place in Kenyan rally history.

Through these initiatives, CFAO Mobility Kenya is not only supporting the Safari Rally but also building a foundation for the future of motorsport in the country, inspiring young talent, and strengthening Kenya’s position in global rallying.
