FKF, Clubs Agree September 19 Kick-Off for 2026/27 SportPesa League Season

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) and SportPesa League clubs have agreed to begin the 2026/27 league season on Saturday, September 19, 2026, following discussions on preparations for the new campaign.

The agreement was reached during a meeting between FKF officials and representatives of participating clubs on Wednesday, where stakeholders reviewed key issues ahead of the season.

A key outcome of the meeting was an agreement on the implementation of the foreign players’ quota. Under the arrangement, clubs will be allowed to register up to seven foreign players, although only five will be eligible to feature in any single league match.

The federation and clubs also agreed on match-day medical requirements, with two ambulances expected to be available during every league fixture.

The stakeholders further reviewed other matters that had been addressed and complied with during the previous season, paving the way for clubs to proceed with preparations for the new campaign.

FKF said the agreement provides clarity on key operational requirements ahead of the opening round.
The federation thanked the clubs for participating in the discussions and reaching consensus on the outstanding matters.

The 2026/27 SportPesa League season is therefore scheduled to get underway on Saturday, September 19, with clubs expected to finalise their preparations ahead of the opening fixtures.
