Gachoka: ‘I’m the Reason JKIA Sale Didn’t Happen’

Political commentator Tony Gachoka has publicly criticized The Standard Media Group over its coverage of the ongoing High Court case challenging the proposed takeover of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) by India’s Adani Group.
In a series of posts on social media platform X, Gachoka claimed that he is the petitioner in the matter before the High Court and alleged that the newspaper’s report failed to properly credit his role in the legal challenge.
“The Adani matter in the High Court is the case of Tony Gachoka versus Adani takeover of JKIA,” he wrote, further alleging that the story had been edited in a manner that downplayed his involvement.

Gachoka also claimed to have spent approximately Sh4 million in legal efforts to block the proposed transaction, stating that his actions were instrumental in preventing the sale of the country’s main international airport.
The proposed takeover by the Adani Group had sparked national debate over transparency, strategic infrastructure control and public interest considerations.
The matter is currently before the High Court, where petitioners are contesting the legality and structure of the transaction.
