Kalonzo Blasts Ruto Over Deadly Tseikuru Attack That Left 7 Dead

Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) leader Kalonzo Musyoka is confronting the Kenya Kwanza administration following a brutal night of violence in his home region of Tseikuru, Kitui County. The former Vice President insists that the government account for what he described as a ‘blood’ spill occurring not just in Mwingi but across the entire nation.

The assault unfolded in Kamari village when a gang of over 40 gunmen descended on residents, claiming seven lives in a coordinated strike. Musyoka maintains that the sheer scale of the violence marks a total collapse of state protection.

“This is not merely a tragedy. It is a governance failure of the gravest order,” Kalonzo said in a statement Sunday afternoon.

Local reports characterize the massacre as the most lethal instance of banditry the region has witnessed in 40 years. Musyoka highlights this historical shift as a direct indictment of the current leadership’s security protocols.

“Wazalendo wenzangu, let that sink in. Four decades have passed without carnage of this scale in Tseikuru until yesterday, under the watch of President William Samoei Ruto,” the Wiper leader said, adding, “I demand answers, and I demand them now.”

Directly challenging the presidency, Musyoka questioned how such heavy weaponry continues to circulate among civilian populations. He pressed the Commander-in-Chief to explain the apparent ease with which armed groups bypass security barriers.

“To President Ruto: how do pastoralists come to possess automatic rifles capable of massacring seven Kenyans within minutes? Who armed them? Who allowed them to move freely across county borders carrying weapons of war?”

Reports indicate the assailants arrived at the scene in two unmarked vehicles, suggesting a calculated operation rather than a random skirmish. Musyoka dismissed the idea that the violence was an accidental flare-up, arguing instead that the attackers moved with strategic intent.

“This was not a spontaneous act. It was organized, coordinated, and executed with military precision against a civilian population. Where was your intelligence? Where was your security apparatus?”

Addressing Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, the Wiper leader reminded the ministry of its constitutional obligation to protect every citizen regardless of their location or political leanings.

“You are constitutionally charged with the security of every Kenyan, from Moyale to Mombasa; from Elgeyo Marakwet to Busia; and from Sugoi to Tseikuru.”

Musyoka noted that the attackers, suspected to be members of a pastoralist community, had already signaled their intent by illegally encroaching on the Mwingi North Game Reserve. He argued that the authorities had ample warning of the rising tensions before the first shots were fired.

“Their encroachment was reported. The tension was documented. So I ask you directly, CS Murkomen: why were armed men allowed to move freely through Kitui County carrying AK-47 rifles, while the people of Tseikuru had nothing but their bare hands?”

The former vice president lamented that this tragedy follows a long-standing pattern of neglect. He detailed how thousands of armed migrants have moved into Tseikuru, Kyuso, Malalani, and Twambui over several years, leading to the displacement of families and the closure of local schools.

“This regime has consistently failed to respond with any decisive, lasting action.”

Musyoka laid the blame for the massacre at the feet of the state, suggesting that administrative apathy created the environment for such an atrocity.

“The blood of these seven Kenyans is not only on the hands of their killers. It is also on the hands of a government that has turned away from the suffering of the people of Ukambani.”

Musyoka challenged the Inspector General of Police to act swiftly by deploying a robust security contingent to Tseikuru and the greater Mwingi North area. He insists that a standard response is insufficient, calling instead for a comprehensive criminal probe to bring every perpetrator to justice.

“I further call for a full criminal investigation and for the arrest and prosecution of every individual involved.”

Beyond immediate arrests, the Wiper leader pressured the state to launch a total disarmament exercise throughout Kitui County. He argued that the government must strip all illegal firearms from the region regardless of the owners’ backgrounds or affiliations.

“To the families of the seven Kenyans killed yesterday, mothers, fathers, sons, and daughters cut down in a marketplace in the afternoon sun, I grieve with you and stand with you. I give you my word that their deaths will not be buried under the weight of political convenience.”

The former area legislator reminded the current administration that the protection of human life remains the state’s most basic, non-negotiable obligation. He finished his address by characterizing the massacre as definitive proof of the regime’s inability to safeguard its own people.

“Yesterday, in Tseikuru, this regime failed spectacularly in that duty.”
