Kenya Hosts Zimbabwe Military Delegation To Strengthen Trade And Regional Security

Kenya’s State Department of Trade hosted a delegation from the Zimbabwe Military Staff College led by Col. William Mangwiro, in a visit that will benchmark Kenya’s trade linking trade, economic development and regional security.

Meeting with Principal Secretary Regina Ombam, they highlighted the transformative role of trade in improving people’s lives which will create jobs, reduce poverty and build a strong foundation for lasting peace and stability.

They emphasized on economic empowerment and regional integration, which are inseparable from security. This will strengthen trade systems; nations can reduce vulnerabilities, build resilience and unlock Africa’s collective potential.

Col. Mangwiro praised the enduring friendship between Kenya and Zimbabwe, noting they share common vision for Africa’s development and cooperation. He emphasized the importance of collaboration, saying such partnerships are vital for strengthening regional integration and ensuring Africa speaks with one voice in global trade.

The benchmarking visit comes at a time Africa is pushing forward with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), an agreement aimed at creating the world’s largest free trade zone.

By aligning national strategies with continental goals Kenya and Zimbabwe are together unlocking opportunities in manufacturing, agriculture and services that will boost economic prosperity.

The delegation was also hosted by the Acting Secretary for Trade, Michael Mandu, along with senior officials from the State Department.

Mandu described the engagement important opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences, noting that resilient trade systems, digital technologies and economic diplomacy will increase vital sustainable economic growth.
