The government sees strong institutions, public service innovation, and digital transformation as the main ingredients to improved service delivery in Africa.

The Cabinet Secretary for Public Service and Human Capital Development Geoffrey Ruku stated that efficient public service systems that use technology and the digital government revolution will be responsive to people’s needs.

Speaking ahead of the celebrations, CS Ruku flagged off a Ministry precursor Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity as part of preparations for Africa Public Service Day 2026.

The theme will be: “Enhancing Public Sector Institutions and Empowering Multi, Stakeholder Partnerships to Achieve Universal Water Availability and Safe Sanitation by 2063”.

According to Ruku, Kenya is still focused on providing citizen, centered public services while at the same time increasing the quality and efficiency of government services through public institutions.

“Our commitment to citizen-centric public service delivery remains on course and we intend to progressively scale up the quality of government services delivered through all institutions as we build trust and support of our citizens,” he remarked.

The Cabinet Secretary stressed that joint efforts among governments, communities and other partners will be vital in tackling the problems of development such as water availability and safe sanitation as Africa makes progress towards achieving the long, term development goals.

Africa Public Service Day aims at rallying public sector leaders and players to engage in discussions around the sharing of ideas, innovations and best practices in public administration and service delivery transformation across the continent.
