Kindiki Joins Ruto in Honouring Champion Truphena Muthoni
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki joined President William Ruto on Monday, December 15, 2025, as the Head of State hosted Truphena Muthoni, a young environmental champion, at State House, Nairobi.
Muthoni gained national recognition for her remarkable feat of spending 72 continuous hours embracing an indigenous tree, a symbolic gesture aimed at raising awareness about environmental conservation and the global effects of climate change.
In recognition of her courage, dedication, and persistence, President Ruto appointed Truphena Muthoni as the Ambassador of the 15 Billion Tree Planting Campaign, a national initiative dedicated to securing Kenya’s environmental sustainability.

The President also conferred upon her the prestigious Head of State Commendation (HSC) medal, marking her contributions to environmental stewardship.
Deputy President Kindiki praised Muthoni for her inspiring leadership and emphasized the importance of youth involvement in conservation efforts, calling her achievement a model for all Kenyans to protect the nation’s natural heritage.
