Kithure Kindiki pushes nationwide electricity connectivity drive

The Government is fast-tracking electricity connectivity across the country as part of its plan to achieve universal household and public amenities electrification within the next three years.
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki said the initiative has already connected about 1.3 million households since September 2022, with ongoing projects targeting more homes in various regions.
Speaking during the commissioning of the Maragima Last Mile Connectivity Project in Maragima, Kindiki announced that an additional 9,500 households in Nyeri County are set to benefit from a Sh754 million electricity expansion programme.

In Kieni Constituency, the Government also flagged off materials for several connectivity projects including Muti Umwe, Ngano ini, Marazo-Jet Ebenezer, Kiamahuri/Kairi, Ngatha and Gategi areas, which will collectively connect about 1,100 households at a cost of Sh190 million.
The Deputy President was accompanied by local leaders including Member of Parliament Njoroge Wainaina and Energy Principal Secretary Alex Wachira.
Kindiki reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to improving infrastructure, markets, water access, roads, sports facilities and agricultural productivity to enhance livelihoods and job creation in the region.
