Kampala-based fintech firm MAM Telecom Ltd, which addresses mobile money float shortages, has been accepted into FasterCapital’s prestigious EquityPilot acceleration program.
The partnership aims to help the company raise a $5 million seed round to launch East Africa’s first 24/7 digital float liquidity platform.
The initiative targets a critical challenge in Uganda’s mobile money ecosystem, where the sector processes over UGX 50 trillion annually, yet more than 300,000 agents experience daily revenue losses due to float depletion.
These shortages are most severe during nights, weekends, and in rural areas, where traditional banks cannot provide instant liquidity.
Milon Ahabwe Mutebile, Founder and CEO of MAM Telecom, highlighted the impact of limited banking hours on agent revenue. “Agents should never turn away customers because they have no float at 8 PM or on a Sunday,” he said.
With FasterCapital’s support, MAM Telecom plans to make liquidity instant, unlimited, and accessible to every mobile money agent in Uganda starting in 2026, promising to transform the country’s mobile financial services landscape.
