Tourism Cabinet Secretary and Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development Cabinet Secretary have presided over a title deed issuance exercise in Ol Kalou, Nyandarua County, as the government moves to strengthen land ownership security.
The exercise saw residents receive title deeds, a move aimed at resolving historical land ownership challenges, reducing disputes, and empowering communities through secure land rights.
CS Miano said securing land ownership is a major step towards unlocking economic opportunities, particularly in Nyandarua, which serves as a key food basket for the country.
She noted that formalising land ownership will enable families to use their property as economic assets by accessing credit, investing in agriculture, and building sustainable wealth. “Securing land rights at the grassroots is a critical pillar of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), as it transforms idle assets into productive capital,” Miano said.
The government has prioritised accelerating land registration and issuing title deeds as part of efforts to promote investment, enhance agricultural productivity, and provide communities with greater economic security.
The initiative is expected to benefit farmers and rural households by giving them legal ownership documents that can support long-term development and financial inclusion.
