Occultism Among Theories as Police Probe OCS’s Mysterious Death in Siaya Church

Detectives are investigating a suspected murder after the death of an Officer Commanding Station (OCS) – Murang’a Railways Police Station, whose body was found at a church compound in Siaya County.
Police received the report on June 16, 2026, at about 11:30 pm, after residents alerted them to a body lying next to Last God’s Appeal Church in Rera village.
Officers who responded to the scene found the body of Inspector John Aduol, 55, the OCS of Murang’a Railways Police Station, lying inside the church compound.
Investigators noted a fresh cut wound on his forehead, which they believe someone inflicted with a sharp object. They also found blood still oozing from the injury, leading police to treat the case as suspected murder.
Authorities have yet to establish a motive.
Police also said Aduol had been granted time off to seek specialized treatment at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kisumu after doctors referred him from Tasia Hill Hospital in Embakasi, Nairobi.
Investigators said the officer had been diagnosed with acute amoebiasis and septic wounds on his left leg. Rather than travel directly to the hospital, they established that he went to his home area in Siala Kaduol and later, on June 13, went to God’s Last Appeal Church for prayers.
Police said the officer asked the church pastor to allow him to stay in the church compound until June 20, when the church planned to hold a crusade in Rera village. After the event, he intended to return home to his wife in Siala Kaduol.
The pastor told investigators that on June 16 at around 10am, he left the church with two church officials to attend a funeral in South Gem, leaving the officer alone at the site. When they returned at about 5pm, they found Inspector Aduol lying motionless inside the compound and informed police.
Officers visited the scene and found the body lying on its left side. Police said there were no signs of a struggle, although Aduol had sustained a minor forehead injury that investigators believe resulted from a fall.
Police said they processed the scene before moving the body to the Yala Level IV Hospital mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
Investigators also said they remain engaged in efforts to understand the circumstances surrounding the death, including revisiting the location where the body was found. Police noted that occultism is among the theories under consideration.
