President Ruto Honours Truphena Muthoni for Environmental Conservation Efforts

President William Ruto has lauded Truphena Muthoni as an exemplary young Kenyan whose dedication and determination reflect the very best of the nation’s spirit, following her remarkable environmental advocacy.

In a statement, the President said he engaged with Muthoni at his office after she set a record by spending 72 continuous hours embracing an indigenous tree, a symbolic act aimed at raising national and global awareness on environmental conservation and climate change.

In recognition of her courage, fortitude and leadership, President Ruto appointed Muthoni as an Ambassador of the 15 Billion Tree Planting Campaign, a flagship national initiative geared towards safeguarding Kenya’s environmental future.

The Head of State further announced that the Kenya Wildlife Service and the Kenya Tourism Board have extended a fully sponsored holiday experience to Muthoni and her team as a token of appreciation for her inspiring efforts.

Additionally, the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry will support the realisation of her dream to visit Brazil, an opportunity intended to broaden her exposure to global conservation initiatives and strengthen her environmental leadership.

As a mark of national honour for her exemplary service to environmental stewardship, President Ruto also conferred upon Truphena Muthoni the Head of State Commendation (HSC) Medal.

The President noted that Muthoni’s actions underscore the critical role young people can play in championing climate action and environmental protection, both in Kenya and beyond.
