President William Ruto has begun his five-day development tour of Western Kenya with the launch of key infrastructure projects aimed at boosting trade and improving connectivity in the region.

The President commissioned the construction of two 13-kilometre rural roads worth more than KSh 1.4 billion, a move expected to ease movement of people and goods.

Among the projects is the Nangina–Sio Port–Okados–Mundere Road, which will enhance access to the Uganda border and Sio Port, a key hub for fishing and cross-border trade.

The government says the projects will help lower transportation costs, stimulate agriculture and fishing activities, and open up remote areas to markets and essential services as part of efforts to spur economic growth in Western Kenya.
