Safaricom (NSE: SCOM), via its youth platform Safaricom-Hook, in partnership with Sprite Kenya, has launched the Hook’d on Fresh Masterclass Series, a digital initiative designed to give young Kenyans the tools, mentorship, and inspiration to thrive in the fast-evolving content creation economy.

The series, part of the ongoing “It’s That Fresh” campaign, will tour four university campuses, starting at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), reaching an estimated 40,000 students

The masterclasses are tailored to equip participants with practical skills in content creation, digital trends, virality, and audience engagement.

The sessions feature some of Kenya’s top digital creators and influencers, including Carrie Wahu, Tileh Pacbro, Charisma, and Cluster KE, providing hands-on guidance and real-world strategies for building an online presence.

Students will also benefit from Sprite refreshments and connectivity through the Safaricom Hook BLIVE Bundle on 555#, ensuring they can instantly apply their learning online.

Hook’d on Fresh UGC Challenge: From Campus to Online Fame

Alongside the masterclasses, Safaricom and Sprite have launched the Hook’d on Fresh User Generated Content (UGC) Challenge, a nationwide competition encouraging students to showcase creativity in music, sports, fashion, or comedy.

Participants are to post content on TikTok or Instagram using #HookdOnFresh and #SafaricomHook, tagging the Sprite Kenya and Safaricom Hook pages.

A tiered reward system will recognize 403 creators across nine levels, offering cash prizes from KES 3,000 to KES 20,000, alongside smartphones and data bundles.

Monthly awards based on cumulative views ensure sustained engagement and incentivize ongoing content creation.

Building a Digital Creative Ecosystem

“Hook’d on Fresh is about more than content creation—it’s about giving young Kenyans the digital skills, tools, and confidence to innovate online,” said Juliana Kituma, Director of Marketing, Coca-Cola Kenya. “Partnering with Safaricom ensures students can connect, create, and share seamlessly, turning creativity into tangible results.”

The Safaricom Hook Green Couch will travel to campuses as a “podcast on wheels,” providing students a platform to share authentic stories, ambitions, and experiences in a youth-driven format.

“Connectivity is the backbone of creativity,” said Fawzia Ali-Kimanthi, Chief Consumer Business Officer, Safaricom PLC. “Through this initiative, we are bridging culture, technology, and opportunity—empowering students to create, innovate, and get recognized for their talent.”

With the Hook’d on Fresh Masterclass Series, Safaricom and Sprite are building a future-ready generation of Kenyan digital creators, blending creativity, innovation, and digital literacy to turn student talent into opportunity.
