Uncaged in the cage: English-based Kenyan fighter eyeing more wins after glorious weekend

NAIROBI, Kenya, April 1, 2026 – England-based Kenyan mixed martial arts fighter Emmanuel Opati has set his sights on his next bout in July as he continues his ascendancy in the top echelons of the sport.

The 20-year-old says nothing is confirmed yet but has nonetheless earmarked July for his return to business.

“Right now I am taking a short recovery, reviewing the performance, and then getting
straight back into training. July is when the next fight is. Nothing officially confirmed yet but we are already looking at the next opportunity in July to fight again,” Opati said.

Opati grabbed headlines over the weekend with a 33-second stoppage of Jakub Jablonski in the UWC MMA League lightweight bout at the Woodside Leisure Center Arena in Watford.

Reflecting on the proceedings, Opati described the bout as explosive that demanded a cool head from start to finish.

“It was an explosive fight from the very first second. We both came in sharp, but I stayed composed under pressure and imposed myself early. There was a quick exchange, a few heavy shots landed clean, and I could feel the momentum
shift almost immediately. Once I saw the opening, I pressed forward, stayed disciplined, and forced the stoppage with a right hook,” he said.

Echoing his sentiments was his opponent, who admitted that Opati was quicker off his feet compared to him.

“I came prepared for a war, but he caught the moment better than I did. That is the nature of this sport, one opening can decide everything. I respect the execution, and I will come back sharper,” Jablonski said.

After a lightning-fast finish on a recognized stage, attention will now turn to who steps up next in the lightweight division to face a fighter who has made it clear that he only needs seconds to change a fight.
