Wanyama Inspires Safaricom Chapa Dimba All-Stars in Nairobi Masterclass

Kenyan football legend Victor Wanyama led a masterclass session for the Safaricom Chapa Dimba Season 4 All-Stars at the Ligi Ndogo Grounds in Nairobi, offering young players mentorship on football development and life beyond the pitch.
The session was part of activities leading to the launch of Season 5 of Chapa Dimba scheduled for May 9 in Kisumu County, bringing together on-pitch drills and off-pitch mentorship aimed at nurturing emerging football talent.
Wanyama guided the players on discipline, consistency, and commitment, describing them as key ingredients for success in professional football. He also urged the players to maintain good physical fitness and develop strong mental discipline to sustain long-term careers in sport.
“If opportunities like Safaricom Chapa Dimba were available when I was starting out, I would have gone even further in my career,” said Wanyama. “I urge the players to grab this opportunity with both hands, work hard as you never know who is watching.”
The former Harambee Stars captain, who recently retired from professional football and is currently pursuing UEFA coaching licences, also spoke to the players about financial literacy and responsible money management.
He encouraged the young athletes to embrace saving and investment habits early, noting that financial discipline is equally important in building successful careers.
The session also featured interactive training drills, with Wanyama demonstrating techniques and offering real-time feedback to players during practical sessions on the pitch.
Safaricom’s Chapa Dimba programme has grown into one of the country’s leading grassroots football initiatives, focusing on talent identification, mentorship, and youth development through sport.
